About the Bands Our festival strives to bring you some of the best in California and regional bluegrass and old time music. While many of the bands come from the Bay Area and as far away as Los Angeles, it is the festival's vision to also provide a venue for many of the excellent bands from the central and northern San Joaquin Valley. While we are billed as a bluegrass festival, homage is payed to old time music. At the Kings River Bluegrass festival, you will be treated to the traditional high-lonesome sound, the hard driving guitar and bass of progressive bluegrass, and the clog tapping rhythm of the claw-hammer banjo.
